Had a great weekend visiting an antique fair and filling the boot with goodies!! On Sunday Went to The Hattah Desert Enduro Near Mildura for Dirt Bikes Which was an amazing event! This time we stood near the starting line as hundreds of motorbikes started and took off one after the other.
Trekking for miles in the bush to find good spots to see the motorbikes, and then climbing "Big Red" to watch them climb a mighty red sand dune, The view from the top was so surreal and beautiful, I said "Imagine living in the city and waking up one morning to this view" The Australian Bush is incredible, no wonder people travel from all over to be ride in the event. It was a bit lacklustre this year in the sense that Toby Price was out with a broken back, every year I have been the Number 1 would be miles out in front. But I realised he was standing right near us spectating which was cool! His calf muscles were crazy huge!
At the end of the race we ended up racing back to the Antique fair to buy the things I had lay in bed the whole night regretting that I missed out on! I bought 5 vintage cameras, an orange typewriter, printing press shelves, clocks, rayban sunglasses, and a wind up pink musical poodle!! A MASSIVE HAUL!! I have started listing a few things on my etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/lavibohemme I will get to the cameras shortly, just packaging, giftwrapping, bubble wrapping, to head to the post office, when I realised I would miss it by 12 I sat down to blog with a cup of coffee!!
Nursing a sore head from a great BIG night last night with a lot of visitors, a big bonfire, camp overn dinner, music, guitars, drums, singing, laughing and kids, while everyones kids spent the day riding around our property on motorcycles. Our kids are in Queensland for two weeks with their father and family up there, so anyone with kids comes to visit us and stay till late so HOPING Fingers crossed today is a relaxing recovery day with some long anticipated alone time hahaha!!! The worst part about being a "Farmer" Is people interpret that as "Unemployed therefore ready to party till all hours of the morning from about lunch time" Yet all the other "Farmers - or Blockies" Are here early to eat some cake and have coffee! Never Peace and quiet!! We finished "Pulling out" The vines which is pulling off the dead vines from the wire which were rolled on last year to bear the grapes, (I didn't know that 3 years ago) Now we are going to attach a 3rd wire onto the posts and then wrap on the vines for next years grapes to grow!! This is a BIG job! Honestly I don't even know where to buy the wire and how to put wire on a these posts????? But As always, I will learn quick and do what Im told!
I will post some photos of my vintage haul shortly, And will keep listing on my etsy shop!!

Farm Girl Vintage - Introduction into my crazy boring world!!
Hi, Im Kerryn - A Country Bumkin that lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere and I love to collect Vintage Clothing, furniture, nick nacks!!!
I try to wear vintage clothing often but find it hard living in a hick town filled with farmers and indigenous people that whistle, yell, or laugh at me! I get called weird, crazy UNIQUE and all sorts of things, some days I care, some days I don't!! I like the look on peoples faces when they drop in to my house to pick up fruit and Im in a 1950s grandma dress with curled hair and full makeup. "What the fuck have ya got on ya face ya dickhead???" Is usually their reply!!
Sorry I swear, I want to be real in this blog, my dad was a sheep shearer and I have a weird sense of humour similar to his! I could show pictures of my wonderful outings and similar friends that love vintage and pinup style but alas, I hardly go anywhere and my friends wear work boots, drink beer and are mainly men!! I could take photos of my new vegetarian stacks and chai soy lattes in cafes everyday, but in reality I like to make meals that look like grandma made them in 1960. Nothing like a shephards pie with a sponge cake for desert!! People drop in for smoko, or the workers like jam drop biscuits, ANZAC cookies or tea cake. If I gave them a macaroon and chai Latte they would laugh and laugh and call me Dick head!
My House is hardly trendy, its a unique blend of vintage, cottage chic, retro, artsy, French provincial, with some 1980s gold taps and light fittings that one day, when Im not buying tractors and spray units, and fertilizer and farm stuff, I will replace! I've had friends come to my house and say "Oh, you like that old crap!!" Really disappointed because its not filled with leather recliners and landscape paintings of Australian bush, orange pine furniture and wedding photos everywhere!! I feel like Im always doing housework, yet with two teenage children in the house Its rarely VERY Clean!!
My body is real, Im not happy with it, but its real, cellulite, stretchmarks, moles freckles and a belly. I was really skinny not too long ago, no boobs that kind of swung in the breeze but the rest of me was skinny! But now Im bigger, I have boobs, Im sad about my belly and bum and try to exercise but realistically, its sporatic - WII Fit, and a walk around the block in some 80s outfit with matching headband and wristbands. There is a family of Kangaroos that live in our grape vine, an Emu that eats our grapes, and some pretty blue wrens that are soo cute!! I put on my IPOD Mix of songs to pump me up and walk around the property, I bought big headphones so my neighbours didn't call me snob when I didn't hear them beeping or yelling, and I can ignore the backpackers in vans going to pick figs, mulberries, watermelons or pumpkins, whistling or yelling stuff at me! But I keep snipping off the cord to my headphones with secateaurs when Im pruning the vines!!! I also have a vast array of vintage exercise equipment - seriously gay! I have a special song for each one!!
Im mad about OP Shops (thrift) and can come back with a car full of fur jackets, leather jackets, vintage dresses, platforms and nick nacks. And have spent stuff all at the end of the day! This is my therapy, My therapist doesn't think it is good therapy and thinks anti depressants are much better!! Whatever! People call me a hoarder, I see it more as investments that increase with age, the kids wish they had somewhere to put their clothes as their wardrobes are full of fur jackets and leather jackets, mine are full of 50s frou frou prom dresses!! SO MANY! I name them, and touch them and can sit in my "craft room" For hours, arranging them into colour and asking them how their day has been!! I will introduce you to some as we go!!
This is me with a puppy walking along the vines in a pair of shorts I had made out of vintage floral fabric!! I miss warm weather. Now it is getting cold, and my big old house is freezing. The garden is full of big trees that keep the sun out, so I spend most days rugging up in tracksuits, ugg boots and dressing gowns! REALLY Attractive! I showed you this photo as its of the grape vines! At the moment they don't look pretty, the harvesters have gone through to pick the fruit and we are in the process of pulling out the old canes and rolling on the new ones! I've only been on the farm 3 years so Im constantly learning new things, I grew up on a citrus property (block) so knew nothing about grapes. its been exciting learning how they grow, get picked and pruned. When we get an agronomist or a professional and I ask stupid questions like "Which bit will the grapes come off" and "Are these vines called arms or fingers?" They call me names like retard, or fuckwit and ask if im serious??? So now I know some are called Cordines or Cordalines and there are buds and tendrils etc..
When I first bought water I asked if they deliver it in a truck! "The secretary laughed and hung up on me!" No they metre it and you pay how much you use! If you water your block you have to order It over the internet! Groovy hey!
We grow vegetables as well, but at the moment the weeds have taken over so Im in the process of getting that back on track. We have fruit like apples, plums, apricots, pears, peaches, nectarines, avocados, kiwi fruit, locquets, figs, olives, (not fruit), persimmons, pomegranets, oranges, mandarins, lemons, cherries, walnuts, quinces, and other things. So we always have people stopping in asking for bags of whatever they can get. We have grown watermelons on our 5 acres but grew corn this year.
I love heirloom seeds and make salads from tomatoes that are every colour of the rainbow. We make beetroot chips and zuchinni fritters and salads, Jams its like shopping in your backyard.
I have a few chooks, little tiny bantams, weird ones with fluffy heads and plain ones for laying eggs. The roosters are called Steven and Tyler, the chooks (girls) are named Janie, Liv and Katie - Janie from Janie's got a gun (aerosmith) Liv as its Steven Tylers daughter and Katie after Katie Perry because her head looks like a firework. (My daughter named that one). Our blue parrot is called Pierre, My girl maltese shitzu is Manohla the boy is Dexter and their son is called Tard eye. My partner Brad named him that because its eyes are retarded, but when visitors come we call it TOTO!!
Anyway, I will get back to folding washing and doing dishes! Visitors tonight for Band Practise (I sing and play bass and after a few cocktails get on the drums) FUNKY TOWN!!!
Nice to meet you all!
